Founded in 1996, the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana distributed 225,000 pounds of food during its first year of operation. Last fiscal year, we distributed 8.4 million pounds of food.

What began three decades ago in a 5,000-square-foot warehouse tucked behind what is now the Children’s Museum has grown into a 66,000-square-foot distribution hub, serving tens of thousands of families and individuals across this part of the state. Each month, we serve nearly 32,000 people through our network of community partners and programs.

Behind those numbers is a powerful community effort. A dedicated full-time staff of 17 is supported by hundreds of volunteers whose time and compassion multiply the Food Bank’s reach every single day.

“It’s amazing to think of all the people we have been able to serve through the years because of the support of our generous community,” said Jean Toth, Executive Director. “Every meal shared represents a neighbor cared for, and every year reminds us how powerful our community can be when we come together.”

While the scale of operations has expanded dramatically over the years, our mission to provide food, hope, and dignity to our neighbors facing hunger has stayed the same.

As the Food Bank celebrates 30 years of service, we continue to build on a strong foundation while expanding our reach to serve more families, deepen community partnerships, and alleviate hunger.
