Meet Sissy

Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana

Big things are on the horizon for Sissy. She’s hoping to become an official home owner soon, and her oldest child will be graduating from high school next spring.

“That’s a pretty big deal,” she said, excitedly.

Sissy is a mother of three children and works fulltime as a housekeeper at a local hotel. When Sissy isn’t working, she enjoys spending time at home and binge-watching TV shows with her kids.

“I’m definitely a stay-at-home person,” she joked.

One of the things Sissy enjoys is gathering for a meal with her family. She loves cooking a delicious dinner that she and her children share together.

But like many families in our community, Sissy faces the challenges of affording the high cost of food. Sometimes when finances get tight, she will visit a Food Bank food pantry in Lincoln Parish, where she receives a variety of groceries such as shelf-stable foods, fresh produce and proteins.

“The food helps out a lot,” she said. “It helps me save to make ends meet.”
