Area Scouts Set to Gather Food for Local Families
Nearly a thousand local Scouts are set to collect food donations from homes across Northeast Louisiana on Saturday, November 9, for the 37th Annual Boy Scouts of America Scouting for Food drive.
Local Scout troops from the Louisiana Purchase Council will drop off empty donation bags at the doorsteps of homes across the community on Saturday, November 2. Residents are encouraged to fill the bags with non-perishable food items and place them outside their front door by 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9. Scouts will collect donations from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana is inviting community members to donate food items to the Food Bank to help feed local families experiencing hunger this holiday season.
“Many families in our community who are struggling turn to us for help during the holidays,” said Jean Toth, Executive Director of the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana. “Please participate in this year’s drive to help ensure our neighbors have a warm meal.”
The most needed Food Bank items are soups, meals, and proteins in a can, as well as plastic jars of peanut butter. Any non-perishable food items are gladly accepted. If someone would like to help but can’t donate food, they can make a monetary donation online at foodbanknela.org/donate.
