Meet Ray

Ray is retired and spends his day’s taking care of his wife. She has been on Dialysis the last three years and recently suffered an injury that caused her to have a long hospital stay.

Like many seniors in our community, Ray and his wife live on a fixed income. With medical bills piling on and the cost of food rising, it is getting difficult for them to pay all of their bills.

Food prices have increased 11 percent over the last year, causing many of our neighbors to make difficult choices. Ray was told about the Food Bank’s Senior Program by a health care worker and joined in August.

When we met Ray, he was eagerly waiting in line at our November senior distribution. Though he has only been on the program for three months, he said the help he receives from the Food Bank has already made a difference.

“It’s helped our budget out tremendously,” he said.

Ray, along with hundreds of seniors in Northeast Louisiana, received groceries such as chicken, potatoes, apples and carrots, along with a 30-pound box of shelf stable food items.

Your support helped provide nutritious food to seniors in our community this Thanksgiving and year-round.
