The Town of Oak Grove, in partnership with the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana, will host a food box distribution to help residents of West Carroll Parish who are in need.
“We thank the Food Bank of Northeast Louisiana for offering this service to our citizens,” Oak Grove Mayor Adam T. Holland said. “They have long been a partner for our community providing this service for many in need. This is a little lagniappe they are providing for our people who have suffered so much from economic downturn due to the precautions taken to fight COVID-19.”
The distribution will be held on Friday, May 15th from 11 a.m. until supplies run out, at the City Maintenance Barn located at 400 Lamont Street. Staging will take place in the parking lot of Town of Oak Grove Industrial Building (Superior Group of Companies) located at 710 West Jefferson in Oak Grove. No parking will be allowed in the area prior to 9 am on May 15. Recipients are asked to remain in their automobile at all times during the wait.
The free food box distribution is open to all residents who live in West Carroll Parish who have had loss of income due to COVID-19 or are in need of food.
Food boxes will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. Only one box will be given per vehicle. Each box will contain 25 pounds of non-perishable food items. Supply is limited to the first 360 boxes and no one will be allowed in line once the number is reached.
The distribution will be a “drive thru” service, with volunteers loading food boxes into the vehicles. Recipients will not have to get out of their vehicles, and are asked to clear space in their trunk for the food box prior to the distribution.
