Hunger Action Month

What is Hunger Action Month?

Hunger Action Month is a nationwide campaign led by Feeding America dedicated to raise awareness about food insecurity and inspire community members to take action against hunger.

Why does it matter?

Knowing the problem is half the solution. Bringing awareness to food insecurity in our community can spark a combined effort to help alleviate it. The issue of hunger hits close to home in Northeast Louisiana because we have some of the worst poverty and hunger statistics in the country.

Food insecurity has been linked to poorer health outcomes, negatively impacts child development, and contributes to mental health issues. A well-fed community, is a stronger community.

How can I help?

You can take action against hunger in our community by supporting the Food Bank in one of the following ways:

  • Make a Donation – Make a gift to the Food Bank’s Virtual Food Drive. Every $1 provides groceries for 3 meals
  • Volunteer – Help pack food boxes, build boxes or sort and distribute food
  • Participate in a Food Bank Event – Participate in one of the events the Food Bank’s events scheduled for September (listed below)
  • Social Media –  Follow the Food bank on social media and like & share our content
